The Guild has nine full and part-time staff, seven of whom provide direct service and support to volunteer tutors. The staff is made up of one Executive Director, one Program Manager, six Volunteer Co-ordinators/group instructors and one part-time Bookkeeper.
During our 2001/02 fiscal year, 268 tutors and nine staff provided 29,307 hours of literacy instruction. In addition, 53 board, committee and office volunteers donated thousands hours to help administer the program, make policy and fundraise.
The Board of Directors has a unique structure, consisting of affiliate members and members-at-large. Affiliate members represent educational and human service agencies with clients who have literacy issues, and are comprised of:
- Brampton Public Library
- Caledon Public Library
- Community Living Mississauga
- Mississauga Library System
- Peel District School Board
To ensure that learners and volunteer tutors are able to keep the Board informed about their needs and have the ability to participate in the decision-making of the organization, two learners and two tutors sit on the Board as members-at-large.
