Who are our learners?
Adults come to literacy programs for many different reasons. Learners have academic work-related or personal goals they want to achieve. Attending a literacy program is often the first step toward these goals.
These are some of the reasons learners come to literacy programs:
-
They want to read to their children.
-
They want to help their children with homework.
-
They find it difficult to learn in a classroom setting.
Learners want to improve their reading, writing and basic math skills. Our training programs make a difference by helping adults learn these skills, so they can participate more fully and with increased independence at work, at home and in the community.
